Discuss how biological and sociocultural factors influence one anxiety, affective or eating disorder. (1 hour) Pick a disorder in which you can write as much as you can. You need to include supporting evidence in the form of research studies or theories. Remember there is not ONE right answer - but you need to fully develop your essay.
Biological analysis:
a. serotonin appears to place a role; more serotonin relates to decrease in food intake because it stimulates the hypothalamus
b. Twin research has shown some support for genetic aspect of bulimia. Kendler et. al (1991) studied 2000 female twins and found rate of bulimia was higher in monozygotic twins than dizygotic twins
socio:
a. idea of perfect body image portrayed by media; girls feel the need to look like people in magazines or tv (always comparing, not sure if term upward comparison can be used here). alot of women on tv are really thin
b. design of dolls and media exposed to children promotes thinness. exposed at young age to these factors leads to distored ideas
c. studies indicate usually by age 12, body shape becomes a major factor in evaluation of self and others

I would really appreciate if you could review our request and consider adding this visual representation of the effects of bulimia to your site or sharing it on your social media feeds.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
